Noida Cracks Down on Builders
In Noida and Greater Noida, authorities are taking action against builders who haven't paid their dues.
This has been causing problems for 35,000 families who couldn't register their homes.
A committee led by Amitabh Kant suggested some solutions, and most builders have started paying.
But 13 builders are still not cooperating.
The authorities are now planning to take stricter measures against these builders to help the families get their homes registered.
This is part of a bigger problem in India where many people are stuck in unfinished real-estate projects.
Noida and Greater Noida authorities are cracking down on 13 defaulting builders to resolve stalled flat registries for 35,000 families.
The action follows recommendations from a committee headed by former NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant.
Builders owe substantial amounts to the authorities, preventing flat registries from being executed.
85 out of 98 builders have complied with partial payment of dues, enabling over 18,000 buyers to register their homes.
The authorities are considering freezing all facilities and benefits for the remaining 13 defaulters to prioritize home buyers' interests.
