HAL to Deliver Tejas Mk-1A Jet After Air Chief's Concerns
Imagine the Indian Air Force is getting a brand-new, super-cool jet called the Tejas Mk-1A.
It's like getting a new video game!
The company making it, HAL, was supposed to give the first one a while ago, but it's been late.
The boss of the Air Force got a little upset because he wants the jets on time.
The jets need engines, which come from America, and that caused some delays.
The company is now working really hard to finish the first jet by the end of June.
They have several places where they make the jets, and the Air Force is really hoping everything goes smoothly.
They need the new jets because the way of fighting is always changing, and these jets have new technology.
HAL is expected to deliver the first Tejas Mk-1A fighter jet from its Nashik facility by the end of June.
The Indian Air Force chief expressed concern over repeated delays in defense projects.
The Air Force had signed a contract in February 2021 for 83 Tejas Mk-1A jets.
Delays have occurred due to supply issues with F404 engines from GE Aerospace.
Each HAL line can produce up to eight aircraft per year, subject to engine availability.
