Lucknow Gurdwaras Observe Guru Arjan Dev's Death Anniversary with Prayers
Imagine a special day for Sikhs, like a birthday, but instead of celebrating a birth, they remember a very important person who died a long time ago.
This person was a Guru, a teacher, named Guru Arjan Dev.
People went to special places called gurdwaras to pray and sing songs.
They sang songs called Shabad Kirtans.
The people remembered how the Guru was brave and gave up his life for his beliefs.
They also prayed for good things like peace and health for their families and country.
Just like on a hot day, they had cool drinks and a shared meal called langar.
Prayer meets were held in gurdwaras across Lucknow on the 420th death anniversary of Guru Arjan Dev.
Shabad Kirtans were sung at Yahiyaganj Gurdwara by Pawandeep Singh.
Head priest Paramjeet Singh spoke on the life of Guru Arjan Dev.
At Naka Gurdwara, Gurjinder Singh recited the path, and Balwinder Singh spoke about the Guru's sacrifice.
Sharbat and cold water were served, followed by langar at Aashiana Gurdwara.
