IIFCL Launches $1.8 Billion International Borrowing Programme
IIFCL is a government-owned company that helps finance infrastructure in India.
It has started a plan to borrow $1.8 billion from international markets.
So far, it has raised $200 million.
The company wants to raise about $1 billion more through long-term loans.
Some of these loans could last as long as 15 years.
The loans will be raised in stages and supported by a MIGA guarantee facility.
This money is meant for infrastructure projects that take a long time to complete.
IIFCL says the programme will help it access more global funding and support India’s development.
IIFCL has begun its $1.8 billion External Commercial Borrowing programme after receiving government approval.
The state-owned company has mobilised $200 million through international markets as the programme’s first milestone.
IIFCL plans to raise about $1 billion through long-term ECBs with maturities of up to 15 years.
The long-term borrowing will be raised in multiple tranches under the MIGA Guarantee Facility.
