Housing Societies Oppose Pimpri-Chinchwad STP Charges, Threaten Agitation

Housing societies in Pimpri-Chinchwad are unhappy about new sewage-related charges proposed by the city corporation.

The plan would collect ₹500 from each residential flat and ₹10,000 for each sewerage connection.

Residents worry that these could be two charges for the same kind of infrastructure.

They also want to know whether developers or residents should pay for older projects.

Some societies already clean and reuse sewage water using their own STPs.

The federation says these societies should not be charged again if they follow the rules.

It has asked for rewards or discounts for societies that reuse more treated water.

It also wants the corporation to explain how the collected money will be monitored and spent.

The federation says it may organize a strong protest if its concerns are not addressed.
