Delhi Adds 200 E-Buses, Launches Karnal Service, Women’s Routes
Delhi is planning to add 200 buses that run on electricity.
These buses do not produce exhaust pollution while operating.
Five of the new buses will travel between Delhi and Karnal, making 10 trips each way every day.
Delhi will also add 56 special electric bus services for women and students.
Some of these services will connect homes with colleges, offices and government areas.
The buses will have features such as cameras, panic buttons and live location tracking.
A new charging station at the Rajghat bus depot will help charge large electric vehicles.
Delhi says these steps will make public transportation cleaner, safer and more useful.
Delhi will add 200 zero-emission electric buses, bringing its electric fleet to 4,938 and overall fleet to about 6,800.
Five fully electric, air-conditioned buses will begin operating between Delhi’s Kashmiri Gate ISBT and Karnal.
The Delhi–Karnal service will make 10 trips in each direction along the approximately 133-km route.
DTC will introduce 56 women-only electric services, including routes for working women, students and university commuters.
A four-charger, 240-kW-per-charger EV station has been established at DTC’s Rajghat Depot-I at a cost of about Rs 5.5 crore.
