Nifty 500 Promoters Pare Stakes Amidst Market Gains
Promoters, the main owners of big Indian companies, sold some of their shares.
This happened because the stock market was doing very well.
Almost half of the biggest 500 companies saw their promoters sell shares.
Indian-owned companies sold more shares than foreign ones.
Some companies, like Vodafone Idea, saw big drops in promoter holdings, while others, like India Cements, saw increases.
Overall, the total amount of shares held by promoters didn't change much, but some sold to make profits.
Promoters of 249 companies in the Nifty 500 reduced their stake.
Overall promoter holdings slightly decreased from 50.3% to 49.8% between June 2022 and June 2025.
Indian promoters reduced their stake from 35% to 31% during the same period.
Vodafone Idea, Coforge, and Sona BLW Precision Forgings saw the largest reductions in promoter stake.
India Cements saw a significant increase in promoter holding due to an acquisition.
