Court Clears Naidu in AP Skill Scam Case
A court in Vijayawada has closed a case against Andhra Pradesh's Chief Minister, N Chandrababu Naidu, involving allegations of misusing funds from a skill development project.
The court accepted the CID's report that found no evidence of Naidu's involvement.
Naidu was arrested in September 2023 and spent 53 days in jail before being granted bail.
The YSR Congress Party, however, alleges that the case was closed due to political interference and plans to appeal the decision.
The party claims that the project involved a scam where government funds were siphoned off through shell companies.
Meanwhile, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) welcomes the decision, stating that Naidu has been vindicated and that the case was politically motivated.
A local court in Vijayawada closed a case against Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu over alleged misappropriation of funds from the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation.
The CID found no involvement of Naidu and filed a memo in the court, which was accepted, leading to the closure of the case against Naidu and 36 others.
Naidu was arrested on September 9, 2023, and spent 53 days in jail before being granted bail on October 31, 2023.
The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) alleges a cover-up and plans to appeal the decision, claiming the CID's report is inconsistent and the case involves a scam with Siemens.
The YSRCP also alleges that the CID, under the central government, has taken a U-turn in the case, and that the state and Naidu have merged to shield those involved.
