Mumbai Opens 680-Metre Bandra East Skywalk
A new skywalk in Mumbai, called the Bandra East skywalk, was opened on January 26, 2026.
It is 680 metres long and connects Bandra Railway Station (East) to Kalanagar Junction on the Western Express Highway.
The skywalk has four staircases, two escalators, and 14 CCTV cameras for safety.
It was inaugurated by Ashish Shelar, a minister in Maharashtra.
The skywalk is expected to make it safer and easier for people to walk between important places like the railway station, Bandra Court, and the BKC area.
It will also help reduce traffic on the busy roads below.
The old skywalk was removed in 2021 to make way for a new flyover.
This new skywalk was built despite challenges like heavy traffic and the need to move utility services.
