Rajouri schools closed, CRPF deployed after stray dog attacks
In a place called Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir, some stray dogs started biting people.
Nine people got hurt over two days, according to one report, while another says at least seven.
The people in charge got worried that children might get hurt too.
So they closed schools for the day.
Police, soldiers and other helpers were sent to catch the dogs.
The order was given by a senior local official named Dil Mir Choudhary.
People who were bitten went to a health centre for treatment and medicine.
The dogs were reportedly still walking around freely.
Schools will stay closed until the dogs are caught and everyone is safe.
Parents were told to watch their children carefully.
Nearly two dozen schools in Kotranka block, Rajouri district, were closed on Monday after stray dog attacks; one report put the number at around 45 schools.
Nine people were reportedly bitten by 'rabid/ferocious stray dogs' since Sunday, while another report said at least seven people were bitten in two days.
Police, CRPF personnel, an executive magistrate, village defence guards and veterinary teams were deployed to locate and capture the dogs.
The closure order was issued by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Kotranka, Dil Mir Choudhary.
Six people with dog bite injuries reached a government health facility on Sunday, followed by three more on Monday; victims reportedly included a 68-year-old man.
