India's LRS Remittances Rise as Travel, Investments Surge

Indian residents sent more money abroad in June 2026 than they did in May.

They used a government program called the Liberalised Remittance Scheme, or LRS.

The total amount sent was about $2.55 billion.

Much of the money was used for travel.

People also sent more money for investments in foreign shares and debt.

Travel-related transfers were about $1.37 billion.

This was more than half of all the money sent under the scheme.

The Reserve Bank of India published the figures.

The article gives two different figures for May, so that part of the report is unclear.
