Delhi Satya Niketan Collapse Prompts Demolition and Citywide Safety Audits

Delhi Satya Niketan Collapse Prompts Demolition and Citywide Safety Audits

A five-storey building in Delhi’s Satya Niketan area collapsed and seven people died.

Officials inspected a nearby building and found it unsafe.

They decided to take that building down carefully over one or two days.

Six other buildings nearby were also sealed for safety.

The city has ordered checks of buildings used as paying-guest homes.

Officials will look especially closely at buildings that may have too many floors.

The authorities must also make sure students are not left without a place to live.

The collapse has raised concerns about unsafe and unauthorized construction in Delhi.
