FDA Suspends Kandivali Hospital Blood Centre Licence Pending Appeal

FDA Suspends Kandivali Hospital Blood Centre Licence Pending Appeal

The blood centre at a civic hospital in Kandivali may have to close for three days.

The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration found several problems during an inspection.

These included unqualified staff testing haemoglobin and incomplete records.

The centre was also operating in only one shift.

The FDA also questioned whether the main doctor met health requirements.

The hospital has appealed the suspension.

It says patients can get blood and blood components from two linked blood banks.

The appeal will decide whether the three-day closure happens in October.
