New Rules for Environmental Protection Fund Usage
The government has made new rules for using money collected as penalties for harming the environment.
This money, called the Environmental (Protection) Fund, can now be used for things like setting up machines to check air and water quality, building labs, and cleaning up places that are polluted.
The rules say there are 11 different things this money can be used for.
The Ministry of Environment made these rules to make sure the money is used properly to protect nature.
New rules notified for the use of the Environmental (Protection) Fund under the Environment Protection Act, 1986.
Fund collects penalties imposed for violations under the EPA, 1986, the Air Act, 1981, and the Water Act, 1974.
Funds can be used for 11 activities, including environmental monitoring, capacity building, and remediation of damage.
Activities range from installing air quality monitors to setting up laboratories and cleaning contaminated sites.
