CDS Anil Chauhan Advocates Indian-Led Strategic Innovation
Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan spoke at Jawaharlal Nehru University on the birthday of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.
He said India should create its own ideas and technology for security, not just use Western ones.
He explained that the world is changing very fast, and new technologies like AI will be important in future conflicts.
He also talked about how Netaji Bose's leadership, which included both military and diplomatic strategies, is still important today.
General Chauhan emphasized that protecting a country involves more than just the military—it includes things like the economy, environment, and cybersecurity.
He also mentioned India's efforts to be self-reliant in defense and to build important infrastructure near its borders.
CDS General Anil Chauhan emphasized the need for India to develop its own strategic and technological solutions to emerging security challenges, cautioning against excessive reliance on Western concepts and weapon systems.
He highlighted the relevance of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's approach of assertive diplomacy and strategic realism in navigating today's polycentric, unstable, and uncertain global disorder.
The global security environment is undergoing unprecedented disruption, with technological advancements like bioengineering, genetic therapy, and artificial intelligence shaping future conflicts.
Comprehensive national security extends beyond military strength to include economic, environmental, energy, information, and cyber security.
India is focusing on self-reliance in defense through initiatives like 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' and 'Make in India', and is developing strategic infrastructure in border areas.
