MHRC Dismisses Human Rights Violation Charges Against Ex-SP Ravi
The Meghalaya Human Rights Commission (MHRC) decided there was no wrongdoing by a former police officer, Rituraj Ravi.
A person named Enlang Sawian said the police acted wrongly when they tried to remove a woman named Bindas Syiem from a protest.
The police said they were just trying to keep things under control.
The MHRC looked at the evidence and found that Sawian's story didn't quite match up with the other facts.
So, they decided that the police didn't violate anyone's human rights in this situation.
MHRC dismissed human rights violation charges against former East Khasi Hills SP Rituraj Ravi.
The case was filed by Enlang Sawian regarding the removal of a hunger striker, Bindas Syiem.
Sawian alleged the police, led by Ravi, forcibly removed Syiem without female officers or a magistrate.
Ravi denied the allegations, stating his actions were to maintain law and order.
MHRC found inconsistencies in the complainant's testimonies, ruling no human rights violation occurred.
