Visakhapatnam Sees Significant Groundwater Level Rise
Visakhapatnam district in India has seen a big improvement in its groundwater levels this November.
The average groundwater level is now 4.37 meters, which is a lot better than last month and even better than last year.
Some places have water very close to the surface, while others have it much deeper.
Officials say this is good news, but they also warn that we need to keep an eye on the water levels and maybe build more structures to help keep the groundwater healthy for the future.
They are happy with the progress but know that more work is needed to make sure there is enough water for everyone.
Visakhapatnam district's average groundwater level improved to 4.37 meters in November 2025, a rise of 1.09 meters from October 2025 and 4.69 meters from May 2025.
The improvement is attributed to substantial post-monsoon recharge across most mandals in the district.
Six mandals have groundwater levels in the 0-3 meter range, indicating strong recharge, while others have deeper levels requiring more artificial recharge structures.
Mandal-wise data shows consistent improvement, with some areas like Anandapuram and Bheemili seeing significant rises in groundwater levels.
Officials emphasize the need for sustained monitoring, scientific assessment, and additional recharge structures to ensure long-term groundwater security.
