Indian Railways Receives Millions of Passenger Complaints
Imagine a lot of people ride trains in India.
Over the last two years, over 61 lakh people told the railway company about problems they had.
The biggest problem was safety on the trains, with many more people complaining about it.
Other problems included dirty trains, broken electrical stuff, and not enough water.
Even though some things got better, like how often trains arrived on time, many passengers still had bad experiences.
People used the phone and the internet to complain, but the railway still has work to do to make sure everyone has a safe and comfortable ride.
Over 61 lakh complaints were lodged against Indian Railways in two financial years.
Security, cleanliness, and electrical failures were the main complaints.
Complaints increased by 11% in FY2024-25 compared to the previous year.
Security complaints surged by 64% and accounted for a large portion of grievances.
Station-level grievances decreased while train service complaints increased.
