Assam to Send Wildlife to MP
Assam and Madhya Pradesh have agreed to exchange some wild animals to help protect and increase their populations.
Assam will send 50 wild water buffaloes, a pair of one-horned rhinos, and three king cobras to Madhya Pradesh.
In return, Madhya Pradesh will give Assam a pair of tigers and six mugger crocodiles.
The wild buffaloes will be reintroduced to Kanha Tiger Reserve, where they have been extinct for over a century.
This exchange is part of a plan to improve wildlife and biodiversity in both states.
The wild water buffalo is an endangered species, with only a few thousand left in the world, mostly in Assam's national parks.
