Netanyahu Ally Ron Dermer Resigns as Israeli Minister

Ron Dermer, a very close advisor to Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has stepped down from his government job.

He was in charge of 'strategic affairs,' which involves planning important long-term goals for the country.

Mr. Dermer had planned to serve for only two years but stayed longer to help during a difficult time for Israel after an attack in October.

He played a big part in talks for a ceasefire in Gaza and getting support from the United States for actions against Iran's nuclear program.

Some people think he was very important in making these agreements.

Others believe he stayed in his job to help the Prime Minister politically.

Mr. Dermer, who used to be Israel's ambassador to the U.S., said he hasn't decided what he will do next.
