IOA to Host National Athletes’ Forum in Ahmedabad
The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) is hosting a big meeting called the National Athletes’ Forum on January 10 in Ahmedabad.
This is the first time in India that athletes are being brought together to talk about important things like their rights, how sports are managed, and how to take care of their mental health.
Athletes, both current and former, will get to share their ideas and help make changes that affect their careers and well-being.
The IOA wants to make sure that athletes have a big say in how sports are run in India.
PT Usha, the head of the IOA, says this meeting is a big step towards making sure athletes are treated fairly and safely.
MC Mary Kom and Sharath Kamal, who are part of the Athletes’ Commission, also think this is a great way for athletes to share their experiences and help make sports better for everyone.
The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) will host the first National Athletes’ Forum on January 10 in Ahmedabad.
The Forum will focus on athlete rights, governance, mental health, anti-doping, and career transition pathways.
Current and former athletes, along with key stakeholders, will participate in the discussions.
PT Usha, IOA President, emphasizes the importance of athlete-led reform and accountability.
The Forum aims to strengthen the Athletes’ Commission’s role in shaping athlete-centred governance in Indian sport.
