Eveready Expands Into Home Care With Portable Mosquito Vaporiser
Eveready is best known for batteries and is trying to sell more products for homes.
It is introducing a rechargeable mosquito vaporiser that people can carry around instead of keeping plugged into a wall.
The company says this is the first portable liquid vaporiser of its kind in India.
Eveready plans to start selling it in four or five states, including through online shops and some larger stores.
The company hopes to gain a small share of the market at first and grow it over the next few years.
Its CEO says battery and portable-power knowledge can help it make new home-care products.
A late, weak monsoon delayed some flashlight purchases.
The company also says war-related costs for materials have risen, and it passed on some of those costs to customers.
Eveready Industries is launching what it describes as India's first portable liquid vaporiser, a rechargeable device intended to repel mosquitoes.
CEO Anirban Banerjee estimates India's liquid vaporiser market at about ₹2,800 crore, growing around 6–10% annually.
The company plans to begin sales in four or five states, using e-commerce and selected modern-trade outlets; retailers and distributors need licences to sell household insecticides.
Eveready aims for 0.5–1% market share by the end of the financial year and 2.5–4% in about two-and-a-half to three years.
Banerjee said a late, weak monsoon affected flashlight sales, while war-related raw-material cost increases were partly addressed through consumer price increases.
