Delhi HC Orders Sewer Line Across AIIMS to Fight Waterlogging
The Delhi High Court wants a new sewer line built through the AIIMS hospital grounds to stop water from collecting in the Green Park Extension area.
The sewer line will be short, using only a small part of the AIIMS land.
The court also told the city's water and sanitation departments to clean the current drains regularly.
Everyone involved, including AIIMS, will meet to discuss the sewer line's design and how it will be built.
AIIMS previously said that the waterlogging was more due to problems with the rain drains rather than the sewers.
Delhi High Court ruled a sewer line is necessary across AIIMS to prevent waterlogging.
The Delhi Jal Board (DJB) stated the line would be about 200 meters long and use 130 meters of AIIMS land.
The court ordered DJB and MCD to regularly clean the existing sewer and stormwater drain.
A meeting of involved parties, including AIIMS, is set for July 8 to plan the sewer line's design, budget, and timeline.
AIIMS previously opposed the sewer line, citing the drainage system as the main waterlogging issue.
