GVMC Appoints Ketan Garg as New Commissioner
The city of Visakhapatnam, also called GVMC, has a new leader named Ketan Garg.
He will be in charge of the city's services and how it's run.
Mr. Garg was moved from another city called Rajamahendravaram, where he did a good job managing things.
This change is expected to help Visakhapatnam, which is growing quickly.
While GVMC was looking for a new commissioner for six months, the government decided it was time to make a change.
Until a new leader is found for Rajamahendravaram, the local government head will fill in there.
Ketan Garg, IAS, has been appointed as the new commissioner of GVMC.
Garg was previously the municipal commissioner of Rajamahendravaram Municipal Corporation.
The appointment is part of an administrative reshuffle by the AP government.
Garg's appointment is expected to improve civic governance in Visakhapatnam.
The collector of East Godavari District will temporarily manage Rajamahendravaram.
