Protest in Latur Demands Harsh Punishment in POCSO Case

People marched at a school campus in Latur after a student’s complaint led police to register a case.

The complaint says the school’s founder and principal, Bashir Shaikh, behaved inappropriately with a minor student.

The alleged incident is said to have happened on September 20.

Police registered the case under the POCSO Act and other relevant provisions on Sunday night.

Protesters demanded that Shaikh be arrested and severely punished.

Police reportedly formed teams to locate him.

Some people threw ink at the school’s nameboard, and glass panes were reportedly damaged overnight by unidentified people.

BJP leader Chitra Wagh said the complaint should be investigated carefully and fairly.

She also called for support for the student and said anyone found guilty should face the law.
