Nagpur's Udaan Initiative Screens Over 600,000 for Mental Wellness
Imagine a program called Udaan that helps people in the countryside with their mental health.
In Nagpur district, over 600,000 people were checked to see if they needed help.
Doctors and counselors visited villages to provide treatment and advice.
Before, people had to travel to the city, but now they can get help closer to home.
The program also trained workers to help.
This program, started in 2018, is a big step to make sure everyone can get the mental health support they need.
Over 600,000 rural residents in Nagpur district were screened for mental health under the Udaan initiative.
The program included 2 sub-district hospitals, 10 rural hospitals, 56 primary health centers, and 778 gram panchayats.
Over 9,000 mental health outpatient sessions were organized, with over 9,400 patients receiving treatment.
Services are now accessible in nearby government health centers, a change from previously needing to travel to Nagpur city.
