BMC Suspends 19,734 Mumbai Birth-Correction Entries Pending Verification

Mumbai’s civic body has paused 19,734 requests to correct birth records.

Officials said some requests were missing important documents or had incomplete paperwork.

The original birth records have not been changed.

People affected by the pause have been informed by letter.

They must visit their local ward office by October 30.

They should bring an application, their old birth certificate and valid supporting documents.

The BMC has published the list of affected correction entries on its website.

If the documents are verified, people will receive new birth certificates with QR codes through the Civil Registration System.
