SCSS Investment Limit: Why ₹50 Lakh Cannot Fit

SCSS Investment Limit: Why ₹50 Lakh Cannot Fit

SCSS is a government-backed savings scheme made mainly for retirees.

It is available through post offices and banks.

One person can invest a maximum of ₹30 lakh in the scheme.

Therefore, a single investor cannot put an entire ₹50 lakh corpus into one SCSS account.

A married couple may invest up to ₹60 lakh together by opening separate accounts.

The scheme pays interest every three months.

For the July–September 2026 quarter, its interest rate is 8.2% per year.

The interest is taxable, but eligible investors may receive a tax deduction under Section 80C.
