Nepal to Lift Ban on Indian Bills Above ₹100
Nepal is about to allow Indian currency notes worth more than ₹100 to be used in the country.
This rule has been in place for almost ten years, making it hard for people to carry money across the border.
The change comes after India's central bank updated its rules, allowing people to carry higher-value notes up to ₹25,000.
This is good news for Nepal's tourism and hospitality businesses, as well as for Nepali workers in India who send money home.
The Nepal Rastra Bank is getting ready to make this change official soon.
Nepal is set to lift a nearly decade-long ban on Indian currency notes above ₹100.
The move follows a regulatory change by India's Reserve Bank allowing higher-denomination notes to be carried across the border.
Individuals can now carry notes above ₹100 up to a total value of ₹25,000 in either direction.
The decision is expected to boost Nepal's tourism and hospitality sectors, which rely heavily on Indian visitors.
Nepali migrant workers in India will also benefit, as they will no longer have to carry large amounts of low-denomination notes.
