Rupee Rises Slightly Amid Market Uncertainty; Sensex Dips
The Indian rupee started the day a little stronger against the US dollar.
This happened because the dollar weakened a bit globally.
However, worries about a trade deal between India and the US, as well as investors pulling money out of the stock market, are making it hard for the rupee to gain a lot of ground.
The stock market went down a bit too.
Oil prices and some international markets are doing well, but there are worries that might slow down the Indian economy.
Rupee appreciated to 86.24 against the US dollar in early trade on Thursday.
Uncertainty over the India-US trade deal, negative domestic equities, and foreign fund outflows impacted the rupee.
The dollar index fell 0.06% to 97.15, while Brent crude rose to $68.68 per barrel.
Sensex declined 124.79 points and Nifty fell 15.75 points in the domestic equity market.
Global markets were mixed, with Asian markets largely higher and Wall Street continuing to show gains.
