NCSC Issues Notice to Pune School Over Admission Denial
A mother from the Scheduled Caste community in Pune complained that her daughter's school, St. Joseph’s Convent Girls High School, wouldn't let her daughter come back to class after she got better from a serious illness.
The school said the girl was absent for too long and followed the rules.
The National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) is looking into the matter and asked the school and government to send a report.
The school says they followed the rules, but the mother says the school is being unfair.
The NCSC wants to know what happened and might take the school to court if they don't respond.
NCSC issued a notice to St. Joseph’s Convent Girls High School in Pune over allegations of denying admission to a Scheduled Caste student.
The mother claimed the school refused to readmit her daughter after a serious illness, despite medical clearance.
The school denied the allegations, stating the issue was due to the student's long absence as per Zilla Parishad rules.
NCSC has asked the school and government authorities to submit a report within 30 days.
The NCSC may use its civil court powers if no reply is received within the specified time.
