BJP Leader Alleges Irregularities in Pune Grand Tour 2026 Contracts
A leader from the BJP party in Pune, India, named Ujwal Keskar, has accused the city's government of giving contracts for a big cycling event called the Pune Grand Tour 2026 to companies that didn't meet the rules.
He said these companies didn't have their own factories, which is required.
The event costs a lot of money, with the government spending 450 crore rupees, and the Bajaj Group only sponsoring 35 crore rupees.
Keskar also said the contract was given for too short a time, making it hard for the companies to do their jobs.
He asked for an investigation.
The city government says they are looking into it and will pay only for the work done.
People who care about the event want a fair and transparent process.
BJP leader Ujwal Keskar accused the Pune civic administration of awarding contracts to unqualified contractors for the Pune Grand Tour 2026.
Keskar alleged that the selected firms did not meet the eligibility criteria, including owning their own plants.
The total cost of the event is Rs 450 crore, with the Pune Municipal Corporation contributing Rs 145 crore and the Bajaj Group sponsoring Rs 35 crore.
Keskar questioned the naming of the event as the 'Bajaj Pune Grand Tour' despite the government bearing the majority of the expenses.
A letter was written to the PMC Commissioner seeking an inquiry into the matter, and a third-party agency has been appointed to monitor the process.
