NHAI Issues Termination Notice to Contractor for Delhi-Mumbai Expressway Delays
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has sent a notice to a company called Roadway Solutions India Infra Ltd (RSIIL) saying they might end their contract.
This is because the company has not made much progress on building a part of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.
The part they were supposed to build is 35 km long, but after 16 months, they have only completed 4.5% of the work.
The NHAI says the company did not use enough machines or move utilities from the site as required.
The company, however, blames the NHAI for not providing the land on time.
The expressway is a big project that goes through many states, and this delay is affecting the whole project.
NHAI issued a termination notice to RSIIL for negligible progress on the Jujuwa-Gandeva section of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.
RSIIL achieved only 4.5% financial progress despite 16 months of contract duration.
NHAI expected 70% progress within 18 months but saw negligible improvement.
RSIIL blamed NHAI for not providing land on time, while NHAI cited lack of machinery and utility shifts.
The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is divided into 53 packages, with RSIIL responsible for three packages in Gujarat.
