India Approves ₹1,500 Crore Scheme for Mineral Recycling
The Indian government approved a new program to encourage recycling of important minerals.
This program will provide ₹1,500 crore to recycling companies over six years.
The goal is to recover valuable materials like copper, lithium, nickel, cobalt, and rare earth elements from e-waste and batteries.
The program offers subsidies to help build new plants and expand existing ones.
A portion of the funding is set aside for small businesses and startups.
It aims to create thousands of jobs and boost India's ability to produce its own essential materials.
The Union Cabinet approved a ₹1,500 crore scheme for critical mineral recycling.
The scheme aims to recycle at least 270 kilotonnes annually.
The scheme will generate approximately 40 kilotonnes of critical minerals each year.
The initiative will run from FY26 to FY31, offering a 20% capital subsidy.
The program targets e-waste, LIB scrap, and other scrap materials.
