West Bengal CM seeks new Assembly house
The Chief Minister of West Bengal, Suvendu Adhikari, has asked the Speaker of the Assembly, Rathindra Bose, to find land for a new Assembly building.
This is because if the central government's proposed Delimitation Bill is passed, it will redraw the constituencies and increase the number of seats in the Assembly.
Additionally, there is a proposal for 33% reservation for women.
With the current 294 seats, it will be difficult to accommodate more legislators.
Adhikari assured that there will be no financial problems and asked the Speaker to inspect possible sites and prepare a preliminary plan.
