Telangana ANMs Protest Workload, Demand Recruitment Completion

Some nurses in the Indian state of Telangana held a protest to tell their leaders that their jobs have become too hard.

These nurses, called auxiliary nurse midwives, help take care of mothers and babies.

They said they have too many duties and not enough coworkers.

The government announced it would hire 1,931 new nurses three years ago, but the hiring still hasn't finished.

The nurses also have to create special health accounts called ABHA for every patient.

Making these accounts needs a one-time password, but many patients don't want to share it because they are afraid of online scams.

Pregnant women often want their accounts made at their parents' home or their in-laws' home, which makes the nurses' work harder.

The nurses also said it's not fair to ask parents for a password while they are calming a crying baby after a vaccine.

They are asking the government to make this process easier and to finish hiring new nurses soon.
