Lodha's Bengaluru Project Faces Legal Challenges
Lodha Developers, a big real estate company from Mumbai, started a new project in Bengaluru called Lodha Mirabelle.
Some people who live in a nearby building called Icon North are upset because Lodha wants to build more and taller towers than originally planned.
They complained to the authorities.
First, the authorities said Lodha could go ahead, but then a higher authority said Lodha needs to get permission from most of the Icon North residents before making big changes.
Lodha is now trying to get that permission and is also talking to the high court about it.
Both sides are waiting to see what happens next.
Lodha Developers' first Bengaluru project, Lodha Mirabelle, faces legal challenges from Icon North residents over planned changes.
Residents accuse Lodha of increasing the number of towers from six to seven and building taller structures without their consent.
Karnataka Real Estate Appellate Tribunal ordered Lodha to de-register Mirabelle and obtain consent from two-thirds of Icon North residents.
Karnataka High Court stayed the tribunal's order but restricted new construction without resident consent.
Lodha is seeking consent from residents and plans to continue construction in phases.
