Himanta Says Nagaon Not Traditional BJP Bastion Ahead of Bye-Poll

Nagaon is a Lok Sabha seat in Assam where a by-election will take place.

The vote will happen on October 6, and counting will be held on October 9.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the seat is not usually a BJP stronghold.

He said the BJP wants to keep the four Assembly areas it won previously.

It also wants to do better in the other four areas.

Sarma did not guess whether the BJP would win.

He said the BJP had lost the seat by 2.5 lakh votes last time.

The seat became vacant after Pradyut Bordoloi left the Congress and joined the BJP.

Nagaon was won by the Congress in the 2024 general election.
