Good Rains Fill Madhya Pradesh Dams, Power Plan Shelved

Madhya Pradesh had worried that it might not receive enough rain.

Officials thought this could cause a shortage of electricity.

They planned to buy extra power from other states.

They also planned not to make electricity from dams.

Then, good rains filled many dams across the state.

This gives the state enough stored water for now.

Officials have therefore stopped the emergency power-buying plan.

They may use the dams to produce hydropower if electricity is needed later.
