Tamil Nadu Plans AI Legal Portal and Law Education Upgrades
The Tamil Nadu government wants to use technology to improve law education and legal services.
It plans to create a website that puts the State’s laws and related documents in one place.
Artificial intelligence will help people search and use this legal information.
Four government law colleges will start LL.M.
courses so students do not have to travel to other districts.
New hostels, drinking-water systems and security cameras will be added at several colleges.
Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University will move office records and examinations online.
The university will also create a centre to teach students about artificial intelligence and law.
These projects are intended to help students, teachers, researchers and the public.
Tamil Nadu will create an AI-powered portal containing State laws, Bills, ordinances, gazettes and amendments.
LL.M. programmes will begin in four government law colleges from the 2026-27 academic year.
An AI and Legal Studies Centre will be established at Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University.
Hostels, drinking-water systems, CCTV cameras and digital administration upgrades are planned across law institutions.
The measures were announced by Energy and Law Minister Nirmal Kumar during the 2026-27 demands for grants.
