CERC Reprimands ISTS Licensees for Missing Reports
The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) is upset because many companies that manage electricity transmission between states in India did not send important reports about how well they are doing.
These reports should include information about their performance and any money they had to pay as compensation.
The CERC has asked these companies to explain why they didn't send the reports and to send all the missing reports within 15 days.
If they don't, the CERC might take action against them.
Out of 137 companies that should have sent reports, only 30 did, and even those only sent reports for part of the required period.
CERC expressed displeasure at ISTS licensees for not submitting required performance reports and data as per SOP Regulations, 2012.
Out of 137 operational Transmission Service Providers (TSPs), only 30 submitted data, and that too only for part of the required period (April 2022-March 2024).
CERC issued a show cause notice to non-compliant licensees, asking why action should not be taken under Section 142 of the Electricity Act, 2003.
Licensees were directed to submit all missing compliance reports from FY22 to FY25 and explain the reasons for non-submission within 15 days of the order.
25 TSPs were exempted from compliance as they did not achieve commercial operation.
