North Korea's Former Ceremonial Head of State Kim Yong Nam Dies at 97
A very important person in North Korea named Kim Yong Nam has passed away.
He was like the ceremonial president, which means he officially represented the country but didn't have the real power, as that belonged to the ruling family.
He was the only person outside the main family to hold this special job for a long time, from 1998 to 2019.
He met with important leaders from other countries and was the face of North Korea during big events, like when he visited South Korea for the Olympics.
He worked for all three of North Korea's leaders and was never punished, which is unusual.
Now, North Korea will have a special funeral for him.
Kim Yong Nam, the former ceremonial head of state of North Korea, has died at the age of 97.
He served as the chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly from 1998 to 2019.
