Resident alleges harassment by panchayat officials
A man named Vasant Sherigar is upset because the local government in his village, Udyavara, is not giving him an important paper for his land.
He has been trying to get this paper for four years, even though he has all the necessary approvals.
He says the officials are being unfair and not following the rules.
He even had to ask a group called the Human Rights Protection Foundation to help him.
Now, he has taken his complaint to a higher authority called the Karnataka Lokayukta to get justice.
Vasant Sherigar, a resident of Udyavara, has filed a complaint with the Karnataka Lokayukta alleging harassment by panchayat officials.
He has been trying to obtain a 9/11A land document for nine cents of inherited land for nearly four years.
Sherigar obtained land conversion approval from the Deputy Commissioner and single-site approval from the Udupi Urban Development Authority in July 2021.
The gram panchayat passed a resolution approving the issuance of the 9/11A certificate but allegedly withheld the document on untenable grounds.
The Human Rights Protection Foundation (HRPF), Udupi, has supported Sherigar by writing letters to officials seeking intervention.
