Governor Claims Bhaskaracharya Knew Gravity Before Newton
Imagine a scientist named Newton figured out why things fall down.
But a long, long time ago, an Indian mathematician named Bhaskaracharya was also thinking about this.
He explained that things are pulled toward each other, which is like gravity.
The Governor said that India knew about this idea first!
The Governor also talked about how old schools in India were changed a long time ago, and he thinks this changed how people thought and learned.
He thinks the new schools should teach people to think and understand things, not just memorize them.
Governor Haribhau Bagde spoke at a Jaipur convocation ceremony.
He said Bhaskaracharya wrote about gravity in 1150 AD.
Bagde criticized the colonial disruption of Indian education.
He noted India gave the world the decimal system.
Bagde hailed the New Education Policy as transformative.
