NYC Approves Smaller Driver Pay Raise After Uber and Lyft Pushback
New York City decided on a new pay raise for Uber and Lyft drivers.
It's a bit smaller than what was first planned.
The city also wants to stop the companies from temporarily kicking drivers off the app to save money.
Uber and Lyft didn't like the original bigger pay raise because they said it would make rides more expensive.
The city listened and changed some of the rules.
Drivers now get a 5% raise.
The city will no longer automatically change driver pay based on how busy drivers are.
Also, the companies have to tell drivers 3 days before they get locked out of the app.
This should help drivers and make things more fair.
NYC finalized new rules for rideshare driver pay, with a smaller-than-proposed 5% increase.
The finalized rules aim to prevent Uber and Lyft from locking drivers out of their apps.
Uber and Lyft opposed the initial 6.1% pay hike, citing concerns about increased prices.
The TLC will no longer automatically adjust driver pay rates based on utilization rates.
Uber and Lyft will now be required to provide 72-hour notice to drivers before lockouts.
