Venezuela Releases Czech and Other Foreign Nationals

Venezuela has released several foreign nationals, including people from the Czech Republic, Hungary, the Netherlands, Germany, Ireland, Romania, Albania, Ukraine, and the Netherlands.

These individuals were imprisoned in Venezuela and were released on January 16, 2024.

The Czech man was accused of planning to kill the Venezuelan president and overthrow the government.

The Czech foreign minister announced the release after several weeks of intense negotiations.

The Czech Republic is ready to renew diplomatic relations with Venezuela.

Germany and the Netherlands also confirmed the release of their citizens.

Venezuela said more than 400 people have been released, although rights groups say the figure is smaller.

This release is part of a larger effort following the U.S. capture of Nicolas Maduro.
