Navi Mumbai to get first IMD observatory
Navi Mumbai is getting its first weather observatory from the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
This observatory will be located at the Navi Mumbai International Airport and will help provide better weather forecasts for the entire Raigad district.
The observatory will have special equipment like wind profilers and automatic weather stations to give accurate local weather readings.
Right now, there are only two observatories in Mumbai and one in Ratnagiri, so this new one will help fill a big gap.
The observatory will also help pilots by giving them important weather information for safe takeoffs and landings.
