Tata Confidant Agrees to Late Industrialist’s Will
Ratan Tata, a famous industrialist, passed away and left behind a will detailing how his money and possessions should be distributed.
Mohini Mohan Dutta, a close friend of Tata, was set to receive a portion of the estate, but initially questioned the value.
Despite his concerns, he couldn't challenge the will due to a clause that would have caused him to lose his share.
Eventually, Dutta agreed to the will, which means the process of distributing Tata's assets can move forward.
The remaining assets will go to Tata's half-sisters, who are managing the will.
Dutta, as a beneficiary, won't have to pay any taxes on the inheritance.
Mohini Mohan Dutta, a confidant of Ratan Tata, has consented to the will.
Dutta will receive one-third of Tata's residual estate, valued at approximately Rs 588 crore.
The remaining estate will go to Tata's half-sisters, who are also the executors of the will.
Dutta initially disagreed with the executors but could not challenge the will due to a no-contest clause.
Once the court probates the will, Dutta will not have to pay any estate tax.
