Mohammad Azharuddin Sworn in as Telangana Minister Amid Political Maneuvering

A famous former cricket player named Mohammad Azharuddin has officially become a government minister in the state of Telangana.

This happened on Friday.

To make sure everyone in the ruling Congress party was happy, two other important leaders who wanted to be ministers were given special jobs with the same status and benefits as ministers.

This happened right around the time of a special election in the Jubilee Hills area.

Some political groups, like the BJP and BRS, are saying that Azharuddin's appointment is a trick to get votes from minority voters before the election.

However, Azharuddin and the Congress party say this is not true and that it's about giving representation to the Muslim community.

Azharuddin is not currently a member of the state's legislature, so he has to be elected to a legislative council within the next six months to keep his job as a minister.
