How Two Health Policies Can Cover One Hospital Bill

How Two Health Policies Can Cover One Hospital Bill

Sometimes a person has two health insurance policies.

If a hospital bill is bigger than the first policy’s coverage, the second policy may help pay the eligible amount still unpaid.

The first insurance company usually processes the claim first.

After that, the person can show the second company what the first company paid.

A settlement letter can explain the total bill, the approved amount, and the remaining balance.

If the first company has the original papers, insurer-attested copies may be used for the second claim.

A delay by the first insurer can also delay the second claim.

The person should follow up with the insurer and escalate the matter if necessary.

The same medical expense cannot be reimbursed twice.
